Important Announcement
When we posted here several months ago the unfortunate news that the Sholem Aleichem Institute was not holding its New Year assemblies, we promised a further – and better -- announcement. It has taken longer than we had hoped, but we are ready now:
It is with great pleasure and excitement that we can announce the establishment of the SAI Endowment Fund, under the auspices of the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan. We will no longer exist as an independent entity, but the named endowment will allow for our traditional programming based on Ashkenazic culture and yiddishkayt to continue, something that was becoming more and more difficult for us as a separate institution.
We have been invited to provide SAI memorabilia to the Historical Society as well, to be kept with their other collections. If you have programs, makhzorim, photographs, or other items pertaining to SAI which you are willing to contribute, please contact us at mewinters@wayne.edu.
And finally, we want this new endowment fund to be as robust as it can be, the better to ensure the continuity of programming far into the future. We ask you, therefore, to join us and other members of the SAI Board in a contribution to the Sholem Aleichem Institute. We are leaving the Paypal connection on the SAI website live for the next while, so you are welcome to click on the button below, or mail to the address, also below.
It goes without saying, but we will say it anyway – a sheynem dank, a herziken dank, many many heartfelt thanks for your support over the years and up to today for the Sholem Aleichem Institute and its new incarnation with the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan.
